- About
The Gate is our expressive arts programme, for adults with Learning Disabilities, autistic people and people with mental health support needs. In collaboration with other community artists in London, we support people to develop their creative passion and talents and share them with the wider community.
The people who come to The Gate have great artistic talent and have been fine tuning their skills for years with the help of our very talented hand-picked facilitators who are professionally trained artists and musicians who take a therapeutic approach to creative expression.
Together we’re supporting people to explore their individual creative talents, and to work together on collaborative projects with the local arts scene. This can include an arts show, a live concert, a book, a radio show, a music CD, or a theatre show. We have a big presence in the creative community. People know who we are and what we’re about, and truly appreciate our artists, introducing their work to mainstream galleries and music venues.
We believe that creative output is a great tool to promote inclusion, dignity, and independence. However, none of this would be possible without additional funding.
The Gate costs approximate £134,500 to run each year.
£3,000 would allow the group to embark on a new expressive arts project.
